ERI Recognized as Arab Center of Excellence in Energy by ALECSO

Cairo: The Electronics Research Institute (ERI) has been officially included in the list of Arab Centers of Excellence in scientific research in renewable energy for the 2025-2026 cycle by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour praised this achievement, highlighting Egypt's regional leadership in scientific research and applied technology. He emphasized the critical role of Egyptian research centers and institutes in supporting innovation, enhancing Egypt's regional and international standing, and actively contributing to regional initiatives and programs that advance applied scientific research and support sustainable development goals.

The minister noted that this recognition reflects the success of Egypt's national strategy to support scientific research and its linkage to sustainable development priorities, especially the transition to clean and renewable energy.

Director of the Electronics Research Institute Shereen Moharram explained that the inclusion was announced during a ceremony hosted by Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar on 11-12 December 2025. This event marks the first Arab initiative to support scientific excellence and innovation in renewable energy. The institute received its certificate from Director General of ALECSO Mohamed Ould Amar.

Moharram highlighted that the institute was selected following a competitive process involving 35 research centers from 13 Arab countries, including six centers from Egypt, making the Electronics Research Institute the sole Egyptian center chosen. This recognition underscores the institute's excellence in renewable energy research and technological innovation.
