Cairo: Egypt's unemployment rate has seen a significant decline from 13% in 2014 to 5.8% currently, marking a substantial achievement during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's tenure. Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad highlighted this development, attributing it to the state's concerted efforts in fostering investment, expanding national projects, and enhancing vocational employment training. The collaboration with the private sector to generate job opportunities has also played a crucial role.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these comments were made during a press conference on Saturday, August 29, 2026, which was convened to introduce the 'general rules for the work regulations' pertaining to private-sector companies and establishments. The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to executing President Sisi's directives through comprehensive policies aimed at increasing employment opportunities, boosting skills among the youth, and promoting job security and stability.

He further elaborated on the progress, stating that the reduction in unemployment is a testament to the effective policies and measures implemented by the state over the years, especially in areas like investment, national projects, training, and employment. Strengthening partnerships with the private sector has been pivotal in creating job prospects.

The Minister reiterated the importance of continuing efforts to provide decent jobs and improve the efficiency of the Egyptian workforce, identifying these as key pillars of the state's policies for the foreseeable future.
