Cairo:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly praised the cooperation and coordination between the House of Representatives and the government, emphasizing that Egypt is progressing in consolidating state institutions and safeguarding rights and freedoms to ensure justice and equality.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly made these comments during a speech to the House of Representatives at the opening of the second session of the third legislative term. He addressed objections to Article 25 of the draft law establishing Kayan University of Applied Sciences within the Armed Forces.
Madbouly highlighted that this initiative is part of broader efforts to fortify state institutions and embed principles that protect rights, achieve justice, and promote equality. He underscored the government's commitment to these goals.
He also noted that the establishment of Kayan University under the Armed Forces aligns with the state's vision of advancing higher education. The university aims to prepare qualified national cadres with a blend of scientific knowledge and practical skills, meeting the evolving needs of the labor market and development demands.
Discussions in the House of Representatives were characterized by seriousness, national responsibility, and a clear legislative vision, according to Madbouly. These discussions enriched the draft law and strengthened its provisions, enhancing the university's role in building human capabilities and supporting national progress and development.
Madbouly further explained that this aligns with the mission of education in shaping Egyptian identity, promoting scientific thinking, developing talents, encouraging innovation, and fostering values of citizenship, tolerance, and non-discrimination.
Finally, Madbouly mentioned that after thorough preparation and discussion of the draft law, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi recommended reconsidering Article 25, which pertains to stipends for some university students. This recommendation sought to uphold equality and maintain consistency in students' legal status while preserving the university's independence and unique educational system.
