Cairo: The House of Representatives, chaired by Counselor Hisham Badawi, is set to discuss several international agreements and draft budget laws for the 2026/27 fiscal year during its plenary sessions scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during Monday's session, lawmakers will review reports from the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee on the approval of a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian government and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance consultancy services to support the extension of Cairo Metro's Line 1. The agreement was ratified under Presidential Decree No. 197 of 2026.
Hisham Badawi will also discuss the approval of a grant agreement between Egypt and the EIB to finance consultancy services to strengthen the operational capacity of wastewater treatment plants in the governorates of Alexandria and Damietta. The agreement was issued under Presidential Decree No. 199 of 2026.
In the same session, the parliament is expected to review approval of a mutual legal assistance agreement in criminal matters between Egypt and Qatar, signed on February 3, 2026, and issued under Presidential Decree No. 206 of 2026.
The lawmakers will discuss the general report of the Plan and Budget Committee on the draft economic and social development plan for fiscal year 2026/27, the state budget bill, and the draft budgets of public economic authorities and the National Authority for Military Production for the same fiscal year.
The House is expected to continue debating the committee's report on the development plan and state budget, as well as reports on the draft law linking the state budget for fiscal year 2026/27, the draft law approving the economic and social development plan, and the draft budgets of government entities and agencies included in the state's general budget.
Parliament is also expected to set dates during next week's plenary sessions for discussing several general debate requests submitted by lawmakers.
