Egypt’s Omar el Ramly Wins Judo Gold at Mediterranean Games

Egypt: Egypt's Omar el Ramly won the gold medal in the men's under-100kg judo event at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy. El Ramly defeated Serbia's Milan Bulaja by waza-ari, 10-0, to secure the title. His Serbian opponent is a world and European junior champion.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the victory raised Egypt's medal tally at Taranto 2026 to 33, comprising 11 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals. Egypt is competing in 23 sports at the Mediterranean Games.

Also, Egyptian judo national team player Safa Soliman claimed the bronze medal in the +78 kg event at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games in Italy. Soliman secured third place after defeating Tunisia's Souwar Dhaouadi 12-0, adding a new medal to Egypt's tally.

Moreover, Egyptian judoka Hady Hussein won the bronze medal in the over-100kg category at the judo competitions of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, currently being held in the Italian city of Taranto. Hussein secured the bronze medal after defeating Croatia's Mikita Svirid by ippon.
