Cairo: Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) is set to host a seminar next Wednesday to explore the production of green hydrogen using solar energy. The event will address investment and environmental opportunities, alongside technical challenges that the sector faces.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the seminar, titled "Green Hydrogen from Solar Energy: Opportunities and Challenges in Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change," will take place at the Dr. Mohamed Madour Hall in Helwan. The one-day event will be held under the patronage of NRIAG head Bassem Nabawy and supervised by Ahmed Ghitas, who leads the Photovoltaic Research and Solar Energy Unit at the Institute's Solar Laboratory.

The seminar will feature international participation from academic and research institutions, including Brunel University in Britain and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, as well as a representative from the British Council in Cairo. Discussions will focus on the latest scientific approaches to green hydrogen production, investment opportunities, environmental aspects, and the technical challenges related to its development.

The seminar aims to support the global transition to cleaner energy sources and contribute to international and domestic efforts to combat climate change. Esteemed speakers will include Harjit Singh from Brunel University's College of Engineering in London, Virendra Vijay from the Centre for Development and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, and Oman Deichmann from Brunel University in London, in addition to a representative from the British Council in Cairo.
