Egypt’s Government Focuses on Strategic Commodity Reserves Amid Global Instability

Cairo:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that ensuring the availability and safe reserves of strategic and essential commodities remains a top priority for the Egyptian government. This initiative aims to maintain stable supplies as the country navigates challenging regional and global developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly affirmed the government's commitment to mobilizing all necessary resources and coordinating efforts to establish adequate strategic reserves for extended periods. This strategy is intended to continually meet the needs of citizens across all governorates.

The Prime Minister stressed that these measures align with the ongoing directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. His remarks were made during a meeting focused on increasing strategic commodity stocks and maintaining market stability, involving coordination with pertinent authorities.

The meeting included Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and other officials. Discussions centered on the integrated efforts by the ministries of Supply, Agriculture, Finance, and Planning, alongside the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development, to reinforce stocks and reserves of key commodities such as wheat, cooking oil, sugar, meat, poultry, and essential crops.

These efforts are designed to enhance supply sufficiency and readiness while ensuring the necessary financial and logistical support for maintaining regular deliveries and the sustainability of supply chains in the future. The meeting also covered plans to expand the number of fixed and mobile commodity outlets and exhibitions operated by various authorities nationwide, particularly in underprivileged areas, villages, and hamlets.
