Egypt’s FEDCOC and NFSA Collaboration Bolsters Food Safety and Export Potential

Cairo: The Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) announced that its collaboration with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) has significantly enhanced food safety standards in Egypt. This partnership has been instrumental in improving the competitiveness of Egyptian food products, thereby supporting efforts to expand exports and access new international markets.

According to State Information Service Egypt, FEDCOC Chairman Ahmed el-Wakil emphasized during a meeting with NFSA Chairman Tarek el-Houby that food safety is a crucial element in boosting investment, increasing exports, and protecting consumers. The partnership has been operational since 2023 and has successfully delivered an integrated awareness and training program in cooperation with various chambers of commerce across the country.

The initiative has included workshops, seminars, and field visits aimed at traders, manufacturers, and food business operators to enhance compliance with both local and international food safety standards. This collaboration has also streamlined registration and accreditation procedures for food establishments. Additionally, it has led to the establishment of authority offices within several chambers of commerce, facilitating businesses in accessing services more efficiently.

El-Wakil further noted that the partnership plans to expand training and support programs, particularly targeting small and medium-sized enterprises. These efforts are expected to enhance their competitiveness and further strengthen Egypt's food export sector.
