Cairo: Egypt's Nabila Alaa el Din won the silver medal in the women's under-75kg boxing competition at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy. Nabila lost 3-2 to Italy's champion in the final, settling for silver after a strong performance throughout the tournament.
According to State Information Service Egypt, she became the second Egyptian female boxer to win a medal at the Mediterranean Games, following Yomna Ayad, who won bronze at the 2022 edition in Oran, Algeria. Nabila's silver medal raised Egypt's overall medal tally at Taranto 2026 to 23, including seven gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals.
The 20th Mediterranean Games are being held in Taranto through September 3, with 3,803 athletes from 26 countries taking part. Egypt is competing in 23 sports at the Games, including boxing, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, judo, karate, wrestling, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball.
Egypt ranks sixth among the countries with the most medals in Mediterranean Games history, with 620 medals, comprising 156 gold, 209 silver, and 255 bronze.
