Egyptian Karate Athletes Advance to Finals at African Championship

Cairo: Four Egyptian karate athletes have reached the finals of their respective events at the ongoing African Karate Championship in Algeria, ensuring Egypt four medals, with the color of each medal to be determined after the finals. The championship runs through September 14.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the four Egyptian finalists are Jana Khamis, Ahlam Hamdy, Reem Ahmed, and Mostafa El-Ghabashy. Jana Khamis reached the women's kata final after defeating a Botswana competitor in her opening match and then overcoming an Algerian opponent in the second round, keeping her bid for the gold medal alive.

Reem Ahmed also advanced to the final after defeating her Tunisian opponent 10-0, while Ahlam Hamdy secured her place in the final after beating her Tunisian rival 5-4. In the men's kata event, Mostafa El-Ghabashy advanced to the final, completing Egypt's lineup of finalists at the championship.

The results ensure that Egypt's karate team will claim four new medals at the African Championship in Algeria.
