Cairo: Egyptian expats have commenced voting in the rerun of the parliamentary elections across 30 constituencies, following the annulment of previous results. The Executive Director of the National Elections Authority (NEA), Ahmed Bendari, confirmed that the voting began at 9 a.m. local time in New Zealand, marking the start of the rerun process.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the rerun was mandated by the High Administrative Court and involves 10 governorates where candidates are competing for 58 seats in the House of Representatives. Bendari announced this during a press conference held on Sunday. The rerun involves Egyptian embassies and consulates in 117 countries, which will be open to voters over a two-day period.
Bendari acknowledged the strong participation of Egyptians in prior rounds of voting and encouraged citizens to partake once more, emphasizing the importance of selecting representatives who align with their aspirations.
