Egyptian Doctor Released from Detention in the Maldives

Cairo:Foreign Ministry efforts have successfully secured the release of Egyptian doctor Peter Semaan Marzouk, who was detained in the Maldives, ensuring his safe return to Egypt.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty directed the Egyptian embassy in Sri Lanka, which manages non-resident affairs in the Maldives, to promptly engage with Maldivian authorities for the doctor's release and provide necessary consular support.The consular sector of the ministry maintained ongoing communication with Marzouk's family to update them on the situation and the measures being taken to resolve it. Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Haddad Abdel-Tawab El-Gohary, had intensive discussions with the Maldivian foreign ministry's consular department to emphasize the importance of Marzouk's swift release and proper treatment.These diplomatic efforts led to the approval of Marzouk's release by Maldivian authorities, facilitated by the friendl y bilateral relations between the two countries. Upon his return to Egypt, Ambassador El-Gohary welcomed Marzouk and his family at the ministry headquarters, where the family expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the ministry's diligent efforts.The Foreign Ministry has also advised Egyptian travelers to adhere to local laws while abroad and to immediately seek assistance from the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate if they encounter legal issues.
