Egyptian and Nigerian Foreign Ministers Condemn Israel’s Recognition of ‘Somaliland’

Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, alongside Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, have publicly denounced Israel's unilateral recognition of 'Somaliland.' The ministers emphasized that this recognition contravenes international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a phone conversation on Saturday, both Abdelatty and Tuggar reiterated their unwavering support for Somalia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They cautioned that actions like these could destabilize the Horn of Africa and weaken Somalia's legitimate state institutions.

In the discussion, Abdelatty highlighted the robust relationship between Egypt and Nigeria, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to supporting African nations in their fight against terrorism through capacity building and institutional support. Tuggar, in response, commended Egypt's efforts and expressed his endorsement of continued collaboration between the two countries.

The conversation also touched upon developments in the Middle East, with both ministers advocating for international efforts to maintain the ceasefire and ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza. They firmly opposed any actions that could compromise Palestinian territorial unity.
