Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomes the adoption of the identical twin resolutions on the 2025 Comprehensive Review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture. These resolutions were adopted by consensus in the Security Council and by acclamation without a vote in the United Nations General Assembly.According to State Information Service Egypt, this step reflects a rare unity within the United Nations system amid escalating geopolitical challenges and reaffirms that peacebuilding remains a common ground that brings the international community together around a shared objective.Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the United Nations, delivered the lead statement during the General Assembly session in his capacity as co-facilitator of the review process, in partnership with Slovenia. He expressed profound gratitude to all Member States for their unwavering support, flexibility, and constructive engagement throughout an entire year of intensive consultations, which culminated in a robust consensus document that provides a practical framework for strengthening sustainable peace.He further underscored that the adopted document focuses on core priorities, including prevention and the avoidance of conflict relapse, national ownership, purposeful partnerships, innovative and sustainable financing mechanisms, and tangible, measurable results at the field level.
