Egypt Welcomes Trump’s Cancellation of Planned Military Strikes on Iran

Egypt: Egypt expressed great relief and appreciation for the announcement by US President Donald Trump to cancel the military strikes that had been scheduled to be carried out against Iran on Thursday evening.According to State Information Service Egypt, in a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Egypt said it hopes the opportunity would be seized to reach agreements on the various outstanding issues and create favorable conditions for ending the war and launching a new phase of regional stability based on resolving remaining conflicts in the region and around the world through peaceful means and dialogue, rather than military solutions.The statement added that Egypt, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, continues its intensive, serious, and sincere efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to de-escalate tensions and promote dialogue as a pathway toward an agreement that addresses the c oncerns of all parties.Egypt also reiterated the importance of taking into account the security concerns of the countries of the region, foremost among them Arab Gulf states, particularly with regard to their security, sovereignty, and non-interference in their internal affairs.Furthermore, Egypt renewed its condemnation of any threat to or infringement upon the security of the Gulf states, stressing that their security is closely linked to Egypt's national security, as well as the security of the wider region and the world.Egypt expressed hope that an end to the war with Iran would refocus international attention on the dire humanitarian and security situation facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and accelerate efforts to begin implementing the second phase of President Trump's peace plan.
