Egypt Urges Swift Completion of Work Program with ILO

Geneva: Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad emphasized the need to expedite Egypt's Decent Work Country Program, aiming to create a robust framework for collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) that aligns with the nation's current priorities.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the call for acceleration was made during a meeting with ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo on the sidelines of the organization's Governing Body meetings in Geneva. Raddad highlighted that the program is designed to transform development objectives into sustainable projects, which will support the labor market and enhance employment rates. He also mentioned that the national employment strategy is almost ready for launch, benefiting from international expertise and technical assistance provided by the ILO.

Houngbo commended Egypt's significant contribution to the ILO, recognizing it as a pivotal nation within the African and Arab regions. He underscored the importance of the partnership with Egypt in tackling escalating global labor issues, specifically child labor and forced labor.
