Egypt Unveils Second Package of Tax Incentives to Reward Compliant Taxpayers

Cairo: Egypt's tax authority chief Rasha Abdel Aal announced that Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk has introduced a second package of tax-compliance incentives for public consultation. This initiative aims to enhance voluntary compliance and foster trust between the tax authority and taxpayers.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the newly unveiled package includes several advantages for taxpayers who comply with the tax regulations. One of the key features is the introduction of a 'Tax Excellence Card,' which will facilitate interactions with the tax authority and provide priority access to specialized services like advance rulings, investor support, and complaints units. The issuance of this card will be based on clearly defined eligibility criteria.

The measures also include provisions to expedite VAT refunds for cardholders, promising fast-track repayment within a week of filing. Projects covered by Law 6/2025 will benefit from simplified procedures, and the number and value of refunds will be doubled. Additionally, the review time at front-office counters will be reduced from five days to two.

Compliant taxpayers stand to gain certificates of appreciation and awards, with an annual 'Thank You' conference planned to recognize their compliance. To further improve service access, a dedicated hotline will be established.
