Egypt Unveils Ambitious Strategy to Boost International Tourism Exhibition Participation

Cairo: CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) Ahmed Youssef has announced that the authority has embraced an ambitious plan, as part of its marketing strategy, to boost Egypt's participation in international tourism exhibitions. This move aims to enhance the country's presence on the global tourism stage.According to State Information Service Egypt, the strategy emphasizes expanding the size of the Egyptian pavilion to accommodate a greater number of Egyptian travel agencies, hotels, and airlines. This expansion is intended to bolster the representation of the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) members and to highlight the diversity of Egypt's tourism offerings. Participation in international exhibitions is regarded as a crucial marketing tool for implementing this strategy and solidifying Egypt's image as a comprehensive global tourism destination.Youssef's remarks were made during a coordination meeting with tourism officials, which focused on crafting Egypt's participation plan for international to urism exhibitions in the 2026/2027 fiscal year. The goal is to enhance coordination between the authority, the federation, and tourism chambers, while maximizing the benefits of these events in alignment with the Ministry of Tourism's strategy to promote Egypt's unparalleled tourism diversity.The plan also includes the establishment of replica antiquities museums within Egyptian pavilions at major international exhibitions, offering visitors a unique cultural experience and showcasing the richness of Egypt's ancient civilization. The meeting evaluated the authority's exhibition participation plan, discussed target markets, identified proposed exhibitions, and examined participation mechanisms to strengthen Egypt's presence at leading international events, increase promotional opportunities, and support the engagement of Egyptian tourism companies, hotels, and airlines.Participants also reviewed the authority's performance during the 2025/2026 fiscal year compared to the proposed 2026/2027 plan. During 202 5/2026, Egypt participated in 40 international exhibitions, including 33 tourism exhibitions and seven specialized exhibitions. Replica antiquity museums were featured at four exhibitions, the Egyptian pavilion won seven international awards, and 522 representatives from tourism-sector companies and establishments participated.
