Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar engaged in discussions with a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) to evaluate the progress of the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer (GICC). The meeting underscored Egypt's interest in joining the initiative and advancing its healthcare sector.According to State Information Service Egypt, the GICC, which was initiated in 2018 in partnership with St. Jude's Hospital, is designed to provide patients with cutting-edge treatment methods that adhere to top international standards. Abdel Ghaffar stated that a national committee was formed in February 2024 to evaluate the current state of pediatric oncology services in the country.During the meeting, WHO Representative to Egypt, Dr. Nima Abid, commended Egypt's achievement in eradicating Hepatitis C and its leadership in significant health initiatives. Dr. Abid emphasized that these accomplishments are indicative of Egypt's dedication to realizing health-related sustainable develop ment objectives.
