Egypt Expands Global AI, Digital Partnerships at Geneva Summit

Geneva: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi held a series of high-level meetings in Geneva and signed a cooperation agreement with Rwanda to strengthen collaboration on AI and digital transformation, including joint pilot projects in healthcare, agriculture, local languages, and government services, while promoting a common African approach to responsible AI governance.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this took place during Egypt's participation in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2026 in Geneva. With these agreements, Egypt strengthened its international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

Hindi also held talks with Sudan's minister of digital transformation and communications on digital infrastructure, AI capacity building, and cybersecurity, and met UN Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies Amandeep Singh Gill to discuss global AI governance and developing countries' participation in shaping international frameworks.

The minister also met officials from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and TikTok to discuss internet governance, multilingual domain names, child online protection, and expanding STEM-related digital content.
