Efforts Exerted to Boost Local Manufacturing and Exports, Reduce Import Bill

Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gombalat said the ministry aims to increase the added value of locally manufactured products, expand industrial exports, and reduce the country's import bill during the 2026/27 fiscal year, as part of efforts to support the national economy.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Gombalat emphasized the ministry's adoption of a modern institutional approach centered on strategic planning, innovation, governance, and performance measurement to enhance productivity and operational efficiency. This strategy was outlined during a meeting with employees who recently completed leadership and management training programs.

Salah Soliman Gombalat highlighted the ministry's industrial base, which includes 260 production lines, over 700 CNC machines, and advanced testing facilities. These resources provide the capabilities needed to deepen local manufacturing, localize strategic industries, and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian products in the global market.

Gombalat reiterated that the primary mission of the ministry remains meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and police. However, he noted that surplus production capacity will continue to serve the civilian market, thereby supporting sustainable industrial development and aligning with Egypt's Vision 2030 objectives.
