Egypt Condemns Iranian Attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain

Egypt: Egypt strongly condemned renewed Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, describing them as a "dangerous escalation and an unacceptable violation of the two countries' sovereignty," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Foreign Ministry statement added that the attacks would undermine security and stability in the Gulf region and increase regional tensions. Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain and its support for all measures taken by the two Gulf countries to protect their security and sovereignty.

The Ministry stressed that the security of Arab Gulf states is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security, reiterating Cairo's rejection of any practices that threaten sisterly countries or undermine regional stability. The latest Egyptian condemnation comes amid a sharp escalation in the Gulf and around the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz has become a central flashpoint in the renewed confrontation between Washington and Tehran. On Tuesday, the United States launched strikes on Iran after accusing Tehran of attacking ships in the vital waterway, triggering Iranian reprisals that Tehran said targeted US bases in the Gulf.

The latest escalation threatens the fragile de-escalation process between the United States and Iran, despite the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, which Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey had earlier welcomed as a constructive step towards ending hostilities and reducing threats to regional and global stability.
