Egypt Celebrates Decade of Free Cancer Care at Luxor Hospital

Cairo: Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced that Shefaa Al Orman Hospital in Luxor has become a leading national model of partnership between the state and civil society in healthcare provision. This announcement was made during the 10th anniversary celebration of the hospital, which provides free cancer treatment.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the event was attended by Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Local Development Minister Manal Awad, governors of Cairo and Aswan, the chairman of the National Bank of Egypt, and several senior officials, partners, and supporters. Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that the hospital has successfully delivered free cancer treatment services to thousands of patients over the past decade, adhering to high-quality standards. This has alleviated the burden on patients and their families, particularly in Upper Egypt, by reducing the need for long-distance travel for treatment.

The minister emphasized that under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Egyptian state prioritizes human development through an integrated healthcare strategy. This strategy focuses on expanding services, achieving universal health coverage, and ensuring quality treatment for all citizens. Abdel Ghaffar also praised the Al-Orman Association for its partnership in the health sector, noting its effective management and governance in transforming charitable work into sustainable institutions capable of providing specialized medical services.

Additionally, the minister acknowledged the dedication of the hospital's staff, including doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators, and volunteers, whose commitment to patient care exemplifies the values of giving and social responsibility. He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening collaboration with civil society organizations to expand healthcare services and enhance partner integration, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system that ensures equitable and high-quality care for all citizens.
