Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al Mashat, recently convened with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Hanan Balkhy, to explore strategies for bolstering collaboration. The discussions centered around the World Health Organisation's 'Health in All Policies' approach, which seeks to weave health considerations into the fabric of policymaking across diverse government sectors. Al Mashat expressed her support for the initiative, emphasizing its harmony with Egypt's ongoing efforts to implement evidence-based policymaking and to formulate a medium-term national plan commencing in the next fiscal year.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Al Mashat underscored Egypt's integrated national strategy for sustainability and development financing (E-INFS) as a pivotal framework guiding the funding of development across various sectors, particularly health and human development. She elaborated on the ministry's critical role in crafting Egypt's economic and social development plans, overseeing public investments, and liaising with international development partners, notably UN agencies.
