Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa has emphasized Egypt's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Thailand across multiple sectors, particularly in economic, industrial, educational, and cultural domains, with a focus on attracting foreign investment through increased business competitiveness and incentives for investors.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement was made during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Issa and Second Deputy Speaker of the Thai House of Representatives Lertsak Pattanachaikul, along with their delegations. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, included discussions with Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Counselor Hany Hanna, Thai Ambassador to Cairo Thanawat Sirikul, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Amr Hamza.

The meeting aimed at upgrading Egyptian-Thai relations and expanding cooperation in economic, investment, parliamentary, and educational areas. Discussions included strategies to increase trade volumes and encourage Thai investments in Egypt. Issa praised the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and reiterated Cairo's commitment to leveraging this relationship to achieve broader mutual goals.

Issa pointed out Egypt's strategic advantages, such as its location as an export hub to various global markets, its free trade agreements, and recent infrastructure improvements in transport and energy. These factors, he noted, make Egypt an attractive destination for manufacturing and a re-export base. He encouraged Thai businesses to explore opportunities in the Egyptian market, assuring them of government support to facilitate their expansion and boost bilateral trade.

Pattanachaikul expressed Thailand's enthusiasm for strengthening ties in trade, investment, education, and parliamentary collaboration. He noted the interest of Thai companies in expanding their presence in Egypt to tap into emerging market opportunities and increase trade exchanges. He also acknowledged the support extended by Egypt to Thai students and underscored the significance of high-level visits and direct flight connections to enhance tourism, trade, and cultural interactions.
