Damascus: The second governmental meeting between Egypt and Syria was held in Damascus, chaired by Ehab Fahmy, Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs, and Mohamed Al Jaffal, Adviser to the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, authorities, and entities concerned with economy, trade, investment, energy, electricity, petroleum, gas, and free zones in both countries. The two sides reviewed the outcomes of the first governmental meeting, held in Cairo on April 15, 2026, and the agreements reached on areas of cooperation in priority sectors.

They also agreed on proposed mechanisms for implementing the agreed areas of cooperation, including considering the establishment of relevant technical working groups as soon as possible. The two sides welcomed the completion of the formation of the Egyptian-Syrian Joint Business Council and the convening of its first session on the sidelines of the second governmental meeting.

Additionally, they agreed on the importance of holding a joint business forum to explore trade and investment opportunities and advance economic cooperation in priority sectors between the two countries.
