Berlin:Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir and his Saudi counterpart Saleh Al-Jasser have engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering cooperation in transport, logistics, and maritime connectivity to support trade between their countries, capitalizing on their strategic geographic locations. This meeting occurred at the onset of El-Wazir's visit to Germany from September 22-25 for the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Wazir extended congratulations to Al-Jasser on the occasion of Saudi National Day and conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people. El-Wazir emphasized the long-standing ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, rooted in shared history and interests, and highlighted the opportunities for integration through strategic partnerships in transport and logistics provided by Egypt's development vision under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

Al-Jasser highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation across all transport sectors between the two nations, especially given the significant developments in transport and infrastructure in both countries. The ministers discussed joint initiatives to enhance integration along international trade corridors and strengthen port links to support trade between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and extend to Gulf states. They underscored the significance of the Arab Southern Trade Corridor, which connects Europe with the Gulf via Egypt, utilizing routes such as the Egyptian-Italian Ro-Ro route and integrated logistics corridors stretching to Safaga Port and Neom Port in Saudi Arabia.

El-Wazir noted that Egypt has planned the development of eight integrated logistics corridors that connect production areas with seaports and link Red Sea ports with Mediterranean ports through extensive networks. These projects aim to establish Egypt as a regional hub for transport and logistics.

The discussions concluded with both parties emphasizing the importance of building on existing cooperation and expanding partnerships in economic, investment, and trade fields. They also recognized the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council as a crucial framework for advancing bilateral cooperation.
