Egypt and Jordan Urge Adherence to Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the critical need for the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, aligning with US President Donald Trump's peace plan, and facilitating the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the leaders highlighted the urgency of initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip. They firmly rejected any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land and reviewed the latest developments in the West Bank, expressing their disapproval of violations and arbitrary practices against Palestinians.

Both leaders reiterated that establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. These statements were made during King Abdullah II's visit to Cairo International Airport, where President Sisi received him on Sunday.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy stated that the official reception at Al-Ittihadiya Palace included a private meeting between the leaders, followed by expanded talks with delegations from both countries, culminating in a luncheon hosted by President Sisi in honor of the Jordanian King and his delegation.

Shennawy added that discussions focused on the special fraternal ties between Egypt and Jordan and the importance of advancing bilateral relations to serve the interests and aspirations of both nations. King Abdullah II praised the strong bonds and cooperation between the countries and expressed Jordan's commitment to continue working closely with Egypt to expand bilateral relations and enhance political consultation on issues of mutual concern.

The presidential spokesman noted that the meeting covered developments in the Gaza Strip and the latest situations in several regional countries. Shennawy further mentioned that both leaders appreciated the positive momentum in relations between Egypt and Jordan and emphasized the necessity of strengthening cooperation across various fields, including preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee.
