Egypt and Germany’s GIZ Monitor Urban Water Project Progress in Luxor

Luxor: Egypt's Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Sayed Ismail, met with representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss the progress of the Urban Water Catalyst Initiative (UWCI). This initiative is focused on enhancing water services in Luxor.According to State Information Service Egypt, the project aims to boost the performance of the Luxor Water and Wastewater Company, enhancing its climate resilience while focusing on achieving Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water, sanitation, and climate action. The initiative also seeks to improve the company's financial sustainability and service quality, as well as to expand water and sanitation coverage in the region.The Urban Water Catalyst Initiative is supported by a grant funded by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GIZ, the German Development Bank, WaterWorX, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Dutch water operators' association VEI.
