Egypt and France Discuss Veterinary Trade Cooperation

Cairo: The head of Egypt's General Organisation for Veterinary Services (GOVS), Hamed El-Aknas, met with Jean-Philippe DOP, the regional agricultural counsellor at the French Embassy in Cairo, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation and technical coordination in the veterinary oversight of animal-origin products.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions centered on joint interests such as veterinary inspection and accreditation of animal products. The objective was to align health and technical standards that govern the trade of veterinary-controlled goods between the two nations. Both parties emphasized the significance of facilitating smoother trade flows while adhering to international standards and ensuring the safety of livestock.

The meeting also addressed mechanisms for trade exchange, import-export procedures, and potential collaboration in training and capacity-building for veterinary personnel. This collaboration aims to bolster the veterinary sectors in both countries and ensure the safe and efficient trade of animal products.
