Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Djibouti's Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and developments in the Horn of Africa.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf mentioned that Abdelatty praised the growing momentum in the relations between Egypt and Djibouti. He highlighted the mutual commitment to advancing cooperation across fields such as energy, logistics, ports, maritime connectivity, and infrastructure.

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continuing coordination to implement joint projects that contribute to increasing trade volume between the two nations. He encouraged investment and supported the participation of the Egyptian private sector in the Djiboutian market. Additionally, he underscored the significance of strengthening technical cooperation in capacity-building through training programs offered by Egyptian institutions.

The ministers exchanged views on recent security and political developments in the Horn of Africa, discussing ways to support efforts to achieve stability and promote regional peace and security. Abdelatty reaffirmed the importance of supporting national state institutions and maintaining the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the countries in the region. He rejected any unilateral actions that could undermine state sovereignty or destabilize the region and opposed attempts to impose parallel entities conflicting with national unity.

The conversation further highlighted the importance of continued coordination and consultation on various regional and international issues. Both ministers emphasized efforts to promote peace and stability in Africa, particularly in the Horn of Africa, and the security of the Red Sea.
