Egypt and Congo Brazzaville FMs Discuss Cooperation and African Coordination

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty, received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Congo, Jean-Claude Gakosso, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate on African issues of common interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting focused on strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation. Badr Abdelatty highlighted the need to increase trade exchange volumes to achieve shared interests and emphasized developing cooperation in training and capacity building. He also expressed Egypt's commitment to supporting economic cooperation, particularly in investment and trade, and noted the interest of Egyptian companies in infrastructure, energy, transportation, and construction projects in Congo.

Badr Abdelatty underscored the importance of creating an attractive investment environment and removing obstacles to trade exchange. On regional and multilateral cooperation, he stressed the significance of coordination on African issues, especially the institutional reform of the African Union's bodies. He argued that systematic, gradual, and transparent reform is essential for improving the efficiency of these bodies.

The ministers exchanged views on regional issues, primarily the Sahel and Great Lakes regions, affirming their commitment to continued coordination on regional and international issues. They also emphasized strengthening cooperation in development and security to support regional stability efforts.
