Egypt and Bulgaria Discuss Enhanced Cooperation in Defense Manufacturing

Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din engaged in discussions with Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov to explore ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Bulgaria in both civilian and military manufacturing. The meeting took place during the first day of the fourth edition of the International Defense Exhibition "EDEX 2025," which commenced on December 1st, 2025, in Cairo under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister El-Din emphasized the significance of reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two nations to serve their mutual interests. He outlined his ministry's commitment to fulfilling the requirements of the Armed Forces and police for advanced weaponry, ammunition, equipment, and electronic systems. Moreover, he noted that surplus production is being channeled into manufacturing a variety of civilian products and supporting national development projects within Egypt.

El-Din also showcased the latest military products presented by his ministry at the exhibition. He reiterated the Ministry of Military Production's willingness to partner with international companies to localize advanced manufacturing technologies in Egypt. This initiative aligns with the State's strategy to leverage national industrial, technological, and technical capabilities for sustainable development.

Bulgarian Minister Peter Dilov highlighted the longstanding and evolving relations between Bulgaria and Egypt, stressing the shared commitment to advancing cooperation in various industrial and economic sectors. He pointed out the significant opportunities for collaboration in both military and civilian manufacturing, given the considerable economic capacities of both nations.

Dilov expressed optimism that the meeting would facilitate new avenues for collaboration between Egyptian military production companies and Bulgarian firms in related fields. He praised the wide array of modern military products displayed at the Ministry of Military Production's pavilion at EDEX 2025. Dilov also noted the participation of nine Bulgarian companies, underscoring the exhibition's esteemed position among global defense industry events.
