Bangkok:Egypt is planning to establish itself as a regional tourism hub by enhancing its airport infrastructure, modernizing its air transport fleet, and expanding international connectivity.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed these plans during a meeting in Bangkok with William Heinecke, Chairman of Minor International. The meeting focused on increasing the company's investments in Egypt's tourism and hospitality sectors, capitalizing on promising market opportunities.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of developing vocational and technical training programs to prepare qualified Egyptian personnel for the hotel and tourism industries. This initiative aims to meet the rising demand for a skilled workforce, attract more tourists, especially from Asia, and enhance Egypt's global competitiveness as a tourist destination.
He also welcomed Minor International's intentions to expand in Egypt. The company has already signed a partnership agreement with an Egyptian firm and launched a project for residential and hotel units on the Red Sea coast.
The Egyptian government is committed to supporting investment partnerships and hopes to see Minor International diversify its investment portfolio and explore opportunities in other tourist destinations. Abdelatty highlighted the potential for investment in Egypt's new cities, such as the New Capital and New Alamein City.
