Education Minister Participates in Hiroshima Atomic Bombing 81st Anniversary

Cairo: Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif participated on Friday, August 7, 2026, in a ceremony commemorating the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, following an official invitation from the Hiroshima Prefectural Government. His participation underscored Egypt's commitment to promoting the values of peace and sustainability and reaffirmed the vital role of education in building a safer and more humane future.According to State Information Service Egypt, the ceremony was attended by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, several Japanese ministers, representatives from more than 120 countries and regions, as well as officials from the United Nations and the European Union, ambassadors, and political and diplomatic figures from around the world. The Egyptian ambassador to Japan, Ragy El-Etreby, was also in attendance.During the ceremony, Abdel Latif laid a wreath at the memorial commemorating the victims of the atomic bombing, paying tribute to their memory and stressing the importance of fostering a culture of peace and dialogue among nations.
