Deputy Prime Minister Reviews Restructuring of Egypt’s National Press Institutions

Cairo:Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa has conducted meetings at the National Press Authority to assess efforts in restructuring Egypt's national press institutions, focusing on financial sustainability and performance enhancement.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these meetings, which included National Press Authority Chairman Abdel Sadek El Shorbagy, evaluated the financial, administrative, and editorial status of organizations such as Dar Al Maaref, the National Distribution Company, and the Middle East News Agency (MENA). The discussions addressed operational plans, proposed restructuring measures, and strategies for enhancing operational efficiency and resource development.

The meetings also examined the financial situations of these institutions, with a particular focus on resolving historical debts related to taxes and social insurance, as well as rescheduling outstanding bank loans to alleviate financial burdens and improve planning and investment capabilities.

Eissa highlighted the importance of national press institutions as a component of Egypt's soft power. He emphasized the necessity of restructuring to overcome financial challenges and create sustainable growth models while maintaining media, cultural, and social roles. He called for increased revenue, diversified income sources, and improved financial and editorial performance, advocating for integration between print and digital media.

Shorbagy noted that the National Press Authority aims to optimize the use of human, real estate, and investment resources, while also advancing digital transformations and improving employee training to keep pace with media technology developments.
