El alamein: Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El Hefny held tete-a-tete meetings with transport and aviation ministers and civil aviation authority heads from several Arab and African countries to discuss boosting cooperation, air operations, and the exchange of expertise in various civil aviation fields.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meetings took place on the sidelines of the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow (EIAS 2026). Key figures present included Amr Nagaty, Permanent Undersecretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Mohamed Rahma, Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Middle East Office, among others.

El Hefny began his discussions with Hamoud Mubarak, President of Kuwait's General Directorate of Civil Aviation. They focused on cooperation and exchanging views on issues of mutual interest. El Hefny highlighted the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and Kuwait, emphasizing their strong ties and ongoing collaboration. Mubarak expressed Kuwait's eagerness to maintain cooperation and expertise exchange with Egypt.

In another meeting, El Hefny engaged with Yemen's Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mohsen Haidara Al Omari, where they discussed aviation safety, air navigation, training, and efforts to develop Yemen's civil aviation sector. El Hefny assured Egypt's readiness to provide the necessary technical and training expertise to support Yemen's aviation system development. Al Omari showed interest in expanding cooperation and utilizing Egypt's aviation expertise.

El Hefny also met with Somali State Minister for Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport, Abdul Karim Abdu Haider. Their discussions centered on expanding air traffic between Egypt and Somalia and supporting Somalia's civil aviation sector development. El Hefny underscored the importance of air transport in strengthening ties between the two nations. The Somali minister appreciated Egypt's invitation to EIAS 2026 and expressed interest in leveraging Egyptian expertise for developing a new airport and increasing air operations.
