Civil Aviation Minister Emphasizes ACAO’s Role in Strengthening Arab Cooperation

Marrakech:Civil Aviation Minister Sameh el-Hefny, who is also the Chairman of the current session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), has highlighted the organization's critical role in fostering Arab cooperation in civil aviation. He called for greater efforts to develop shared visions on emerging issues, aligning with both regional and international aviation industry developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, el-Hefny made these remarks during a meeting with ACAO Director General Khalid al-Sharqawi. The meeting was also attended by Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority President Sameh Fawzy and several members of the organization. It took place on the sidelines of the Marrakech Air Show 2026 in Morocco.

The meeting focused on advancing joint Arab initiatives in civil aviation and discussed sector priorities for the near future. Key topics included training, professional qualification, and enhancing human and technical capacities. Additionally, they explored ways to benefit from advanced international experiences to help member states keep pace with the rapid developments within the aviation industry.

El-Hefny assured that Egypt would continue to support the organization's efforts and initiatives during its presidency of the General Assembly session. He emphasized efforts to address member states' needs and strengthen the standing of Arab civil aviation amidst the sector's rapid transformation.

Khalid al-Sharqawi praised Egypt's role in supporting ACAO's work, noting the country's specialized expertise and experience in civil aviation. He expressed a commitment to ongoing cooperation with member states to advance the organization's programs and strengthen its capacity to address shared priorities.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation from both sides on the importance of continued consultation and coordination on mutual concerns. This commitment aims to serve the interests of member states and enhance joint Arab cooperation in civil aviation.
