Cairo: Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Ahmed Zaki el Hefny met with Tiago Faierstein, Director-President of Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), at the conclusion of the Egypt International Airshow (EIAS) 2026 to discuss prospects for cooperation in civil aviation. The meeting focused on mutual interests and strategies to leverage the expertise of both nations to bolster Egyptian-Brazilian relations and explore new avenues for aviation cooperation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Hefny underscored the importance of harnessing global expertise to advance Egypt's civil aviation sector. He highlighted Brazil's capabilities in the aerospace industry, particularly through aircraft manufacturer Embraer, as a potential area for collaboration in aircraft manufacturing, technical training, and operational expertise exchange.
Brazil's representatives reviewed recent advancements in aircraft and engine manufacturing and discussed efforts to enhance technical and technological capabilities within the sector. The meeting also covered discussions on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) agenda, preparations for the upcoming Extraordinary Assembly, and regional air transport commitments.
The discussion extended to expanding cooperation to the African continent, aiming to strengthen cross-regional support and cooperation beneficial to developing countries. Both parties emphasized the importance of using Egyptian and Brazilian expertise to support aviation sector growth, enhance air transport connectivity, and promote market integration.
Additionally, the talks included coordination efforts for the Seventh Air Transport Conference, where both parties exchanged views on pivotal issues on the conference agenda, considering Brazil's leadership role. They stressed the importance of harmonizing international coordination for a sustainable future in air transport, acknowledging the diverse standards and capacities of ICAO member states.
Faierstein expressed appreciation for the robust relations between Egypt and Brazil, highlighting opportunities for enhanced cooperation in civil aviation. He affirmed Brazil's commitment to ongoing coordination with Egypt and emphasized the significant roles both countries can play regionally and internationally, particularly through ICAO. Faierstein expressed a desire to maintain and develop joint efforts further between the two nations.
