Cairo: Dr. Tarek Al-Hobi, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, welcomed Fumio Iwai, the Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, at the Authority's headquarters. The meeting was held to strengthen bilateral cooperation in food safety and to explore the exchange of expertise in inspection and monitoring.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion centered on supporting technical cooperation between the Authority and Japanese entities, especially the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This includes implementing joint training programs, exchanging experts, and leveraging Japan's experience in managing food safety systems.
Dr. Al-Hobi highlighted the significance of partnering with Japan to enhance the Authority's technical and laboratory capacities. He noted that this collaboration supports the Authority's mission to ensure safe and sustainable food for Egyptian consumers, aligning with Egypt's Vision 2030 objectives.
Ambassador Iwai appreciated the Authority's crucial role in developing Egypt's food safety system and affirmed Japan's readiness to provide technical support. This support aims to enhance the efficiency of joint efforts in the sector.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain coordination and work together to expand cooperation, benefiting both nations' populations.
