Cairo: The Cabinet's media center has launched a series of infographics titled "June 30: A Nation's Journey from Challenges to Sustainable Development Paths," highlighting key developments across various vital sectors by comparing the challenges that existed prior to the June 30 Revolution with the achievements realized in the years that followed. The media center reviewed developments in the healthcare sector, one of the country's most critical sectors, which has undergone significant transformations in terms of both service accessibility and efficiency as part of the state's efforts to build an integrated healthcare system that ensures universal coverage for all citizens.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the infographic highlighted major challenges facing the healthcare sector before June 30, including the limited coverage of both public and private health insurance schemes to specific segments of the population, the inadequacy of the state-funded treatment system for low-income citizens relative to population size, rising healthcare costs borne by citizens, increasing pressure on public hospitals, and the absence of a unified system for registering and delivering healthcare services.
The infographic also outlined the achievements made after June 30, most notably the gradual implementation of the Universal Health Insurance System, which has already been rolled out in six governorates as a first phase at a cost of EGP 53 billion. According to the infographic, these efforts have resulted in the registration of more than six million citizens in the system, while approximately 905,000 citizens have been exempted from subscription fees. In addition, 328 healthcare facilities have been incorporated into the first phase of the program.
The infographic also noted that 100% of primary healthcare facilities and more than 95% of hospital services have been digitized, helping improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery and facilitating citizens' access to medical services. The achievements highlighted in the infographic underscore the significance of June 30 as a turning point in Egypt's modern history. The June 30 revolution helped restore stability and pave the way for a new phase of development and reform focused on upgrading infrastructure and improving the quality of services provided to citizens, thereby supporting Egypt's sustainable development trajectory.
