Assistant Justice Minister: New Child-Friendly Courts Introduced

Cairo: Assistant to the Minister of Justice for Human Rights, Women and Children Affairs Sally El Saeidi announced the introduction of child-friendly courts designed to provide a safe judicial environment for children, whether they are victims or witnesses. Speaking at the 'Safe Childhood in a Safe Homeland' seminar organized by the Interior Ministry at the Police Academy, El Saeidi said three child-friendly courts have already been inaugurated in Giza, Qalyubiya and Assiut, while new judicial units are ready to open in Alexandria and the New Capital's Justice City.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El Saeidi added that the courts, established in cooperation with UNICEF, feature child-friendly designs and dedicated rooms where children can give testimony via video conference without entering the courtroom, with testimonies recorded and protected under strict confidentiality measures. She also affirmed the Justice Ministry's openness to international partnerships aimed at developing national strategies for child protection.
