Cabinet Approves Technical Support for National Food Safety Strategy Update

Cairo: The Cabinet, during its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Capital, approved several technical support decisions. Among these was the approval for the National Food Safety Authority's contract with the Information and Decision Support Center at the Cabinet to update the second National Food Safety Strategy for 2026-2030.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Information and Decision Support Center's specialized technical expertise will be leveraged to coordinate with partner government entities, civil society organizations, the private sector, and relevant international organizations. This initiative aims to bolster the role of the National Food Safety Authority in ensuring the provision of safe and sustainable food for Egyptian consumers.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft presidential decree to allocate a 1,707 square meter plot of state-owned land in Al-Bat'ha Abu Amouri Basin, Nag Hammadi, Qena Governorate. This land will be used to establish a vehicle service and fueling station under the governance of the Qena Governorate.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision by the Prime Minister concerning healthcare assets in Minya Governorate. These assets will be transferred to the General Authority for Healthcare as part of the comprehensive health insurance system, set to begin trial operations on June 1, 2026. The Ministry of Health and Population will ensure the quality and efficiency of these assets by providing necessary equipment for their operation within the health insurance system.

Furthermore, the General Authority for Healthcare will prepare these assets according to standards set by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) for integration into the health insurance system.

The Cabinet also approved requests from various ministries and entities to contract under Article 78 of the Public Contracts Law No. 182 of 2018 for several service and development projects.
