Cairo: The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, convened on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, to approve several key decisions, including the extension of remote work for all employees under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 982 of 2026, allowing them to continue working remotely every Sunday throughout September 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Cabinet also agreed to extend the deadline for regularizing the status of terminated contracts involving land transactions. This extension, effective from July 22, 2026, will last for an additional six months and pertains to individuals, companies, and associations that had previously failed to fulfill their financial obligations related to land acquired from the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development Projects.
In a move to boost urban development, the Cabinet sanctioned a partnership between the Urban Development Fund and Delta Capital for Real Estate Development. This collaboration aims to develop 'Al-Mostamra Land' in Mahalla al-Kubra under a revenue-sharing agreement.
The meeting also approved a contract with an international company to design and operate a 250-square-meter interactive exhibition hall at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The project will be part of a joint-investment, revenue-sharing model, focusing on maximizing investment returns and enhancing visitor experiences at archaeological sites.
Further efforts to expand cultural services were highlighted with the Cabinet's approval of new activities at the Egypt Public Library and its branches, aimed at increasing access to diverse library services and enhancing cultural awareness.
Additionally, the Cabinet authorized the Alexandria Port Authority to engage in a usufruct license contract for a land plot at Gargoub Port. This initiative aligns with Egypt's strategic goal of becoming a global trade and logistics hub.
Lastly, the Cabinet ratified decisions from the Ministerial Engineering Committee's July 28, 2026 meeting, approving assignment orders for new and ongoing projects across the Ministries of Housing, Transport, and Awqaf, as well as the Port Said Governorate.
