Assistant FM Discusses Expanding Economic Cooperation with Germany

Cairo: Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Wael Hamed stated that Egypt aims to enhance its strategic dialogue with Germany. These remarks were made during Hamed's discussions with State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office G©za Andreas von Geyr. He acknowledged the substantial progress in bilateral relations and the consensus on several significant regional issues.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks focused on exploring ways to expand cooperation in the economic and trade sectors. Hamed invited German companies to take advantage of Egypt's improved investment climate and ongoing reforms that support growth. He emphasized the importance of increased German investment in automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and energy, highlighting Egypt's strategic position as a gateway to African markets.

Von Geyr, in turn, praised the recent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and described current relations as experiencing an excellent phase, particularly in education, with more than 40 German schools and three universities operating in Egypt. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the recent ratification of the 2022 financial cooperation agreement, which supports technical education, green energy programs, and upcoming development projects. They also agreed to convene the next session of the Joint Economic Committee in early 2026.
