Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Uzbekistan Presidential Administration Discuss Cooperation

Cairo: Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, welcomed Ms. Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration in Uzbekistan, to discuss enhancing scientific and advocacy cooperation between the two sides.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Grand Imam conveyed his greetings to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, recalling the hospitality he experienced during his visits to the country in 2018 and 2020. He emphasized the high regard in which Islamic scholars from Uzbekistan, such as Imam Al-Maturidi and Al-Khwarizmi, are held for their contributions to Islamic thought and global heritage.

His Eminence expressed his satisfaction with the role of Muslim women in leadership positions, acknowledging Ms. Saida's efforts in human rights, women's rights, and cultural preservation. Ms. Saida, in turn, expressed her pride in Al-Azhar's global influence and conveyed President Mirziyoyev's greetings, highlighting the Grand Imam's contributions to unity and cohesion.

The Grand Imam pledged Al-Azhar's readiness to cooperate with Uzbekistan on proposals to enhance bilateral collaboration, suggesting the establishment of a joint committee for implementation. Ms. Saida extended an invitation to the Grand Imam to visit Uzbekistan for the inauguration of the Center for Islamic Civilization, an initiative welcomed by His Eminence.
