Riyadh:Al-Azhar has strongly condemned the recent attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in casualties among civilians and Umrah pilgrims. The institution emphasized that such attacks on civilian infrastructure and pilgrims visiting Islam's two holiest mosques provoke Muslims, violate humanitarian values and international norms, and threaten Saudi Arabia's security and territorial integrity.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Azhar reiterated its firm opposition to repeated assaults that have claimed innocent lives and disrupted the Kingdom's security and stability.
The statement from Al-Azhar warned of the consequences of continued aggression, highlighting the necessity for an immediate cessation of such attacks. It called for full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states to safeguard regional security.
Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayyeb extended condolences to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi people, and the victims' families.
