Agriculture Minister Joins Australia’s National Day Celebration, Marks 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Cairo: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk participated in Australia's National Day celebration, representing the Egyptian government. The event also marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Australia.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Farouk congratulated Australia's Ambassador to Cairo, Axel Wabenhorst, and emphasized the cooperative and respectful foundations of Egyptian-Australian relations. He noted that the joint celebration of Australia's National Day and the diplomatic milestone underscores the historical ties and strong bonds between the nations.

Farouk highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic terms, with trade between the two countries reaching approximately $650 million in 2023. This growth underscores the robust economic relations and the expanding investment partnership opportunities between Egypt and Australia.

The Minister also mentioned the significant visit by Australia's Governor-General, Sam Mostyn, to Egypt in April. During her visit, she met with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation. This visit also affirmed the unique status of the Australian community of Egyptian origin, who play a vital role in fostering human and cultural connections between the two countries.
