9th Edition of Cairo International Monodrama Festival Begins with Notable Honorees

Cairo: The ninth edition of the Cairo International Monodrama Festival, chaired by director Osama Raouf, will commence at 8:30 PM next Monday at the Cairo Opera House. The festival will run until July 17 under the theme "From Cairo.. Creativity Sparks" and will feature broad Arab and international participation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the opening ceremony will honor several artistic figures who have made significant contributions to theater and cinema. Among those to be honored are renowned director Samir Al-Asfouri, a key figure in Egyptian theater and an early supporter of monodrama. The festival will also pay tribute to the late actor Farouk Al-Fishawy, veteran actress Mimi Gamal, and Albanian actress Justina Aliaj for their contributions to both local and international stages.

This year's edition will feature a variety of monodrama performances that will compete within the official program. In addition to performances, the festival will offer workshops, masterclasses, and intellectual seminars. These events will bring together theater makers from around the world to support new theatrical experiences and facilitate the exchange of expertise.

Since its inception, the Cairo International Monodrama Festival has established itself as a prominent event specializing in one-actor theater. Each edition aims to present distinguished performances and create dialogue spaces to advance the theatrical movement both regionally and globally.
