New York: The UN relief chief has called for aid to be directed where it is most needed in Gaza. Improvements have been observed, such as the delivery of fuel, the reopening of Jordanian and Egyptian routes, the opening of a crossing point in North Gaza, and ongoing repairs of essential humanitarian infrastructure.
According to United Nations, Stavros Lambrinidis, Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations, emphasized that these measures are to be implemented with a shared understanding that aid must adhere to humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence. He noted that ongoing steps are necessary to ensure that aid does not get diverted to Hamas or other entities.
Lambrinidis stated that the European Union will closely monitor the implementation of these steps. He also welcomed updates from humanitarian partners regarding the progress and effectiveness of these measures.
